DESCRIPTION

Participants will be able to plan, know and apply the various techniques, skills and pedagogical approaches in teaching highly effective character and moral education lessons. In addition, participants will be able to know the various ways in assessing and monitoring good character based education lessons.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Explain the skills, behaviors, and attitudes that enable youths to learn and grow in self-knowledge, social interaction, and physical and emotional health
  • Guide youths to understand the relationship between their individual strengths and desires and their future goals, and have the skills to act on that understanding
  • Equip youths with pertinent leadership knowledge and skills needed to practice leadership and participate in community life

TRAINER PROFILE

Heikal Y

Heikal brings with him over 19 years of educational and training leadership experi­ence, specifically in the areas of educational management, academic planning, teach­ing and training (pedagogy as well as andragogy), pedagogical and curriculum inno­vation and technology and character and leadership development.

Having a vast and rich teaching and lecturing experience, Heikal has worked both in Singapore and abroad, having taught at the Elementary/Primary (Pak Weep School, Khao Lak, Thailand), Secondary/High School, Pre-University, Polytechnic, the Insti­tute of Technical Education and Undergraduate (Monash, University, Melbourne, Aus­tralia) levels; at the same time, being actively involved in educational management and leadership, curriculum planning/development and delivery and managing academic programmes which includes overseeing IELTS requirements, TESOL-based programmes and induction of international students. He has been well commended for his excellent teaching capabilities by his students, peers and supervisors, being awarded with an ‘A Grade’ (Ministry of Education, Singapore) during his time as a teacher in a Pre-University Institute.

Apart from lecturing, Heikal has delivered a keynote speech at The University of Sura­baya (UNESA), Indonesia, on Curriculum Reform, 2013; conducted a full Teacher Training Programme in Nation Star Academy, Surabaya, Indonesia (2015) and con­ducted an Overseas Education Seminar in Ali Maksum High School in Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2014). Of special note, Heikal was also involved in an overseas project with ESPN Sports in Muscat, Oman in 2010.
